ABOUT
Hi! My name is Daniela and I am your host during your stay. I am thrilled to share this slice of paradise with interesting people from the around the world! The bungalow is part of Casa Corallo, a large beachfront property located on Playa Penca in the northwestern part of Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
Entire property of Casa Corallo including the bungalow pictured on the left and the main pink house on the right with a big palm tree garden in between.
THE BUNGALOW LOW DOWN
Guanacaste is the second largest of Costa Rica’s seven provinces and makes up the northern pacific coast of the country. It’s main city Liberia is located roughly an hour away and is the recommended city to fly into internationally (airport code LIR for Liberia).
The bungalow sits on the sands of Playa Penca, a small white sand beach. It is in the neighborhood of Playa Flamingo, Playa Potrero and Las Catalina’s, with all their amazing restaurants, shops, activities and of course beaches. The general vibe of these beaches is family oriented, a good mix of expats and locals and lots of water activities: fishing, sailing, snorkeling, scuba, paddle boards, kayaks etc. Between 30-50 minutes are the world renowned surfing beaches of Tamarindo, Playa Grande, Avellanas and Playa Negra. These are great options for day trips even if you aren’t a surfer and just want to grab some lunch watching the surfers do their thing. There are several places that offer day passes to their pool, which you can find in the “What To Do” section.
It’s hard getting around without a car as the lack of shade or sidewalks makes getting around by foot a tedious experience. Uber is available, which will pick you up and drop you off at the entrance of the beach. If you want your own wheels bikes or golf carts are a good choice if you plan on staying within the town of Playa Penca and Playa Potrero. Beyond those borders there are either very hilly hills or lots of fast street traffic. If you do want to go beyond those borders a car is a must. Parking for the bungalow is on sand so a 4x4 is needed in the event the sand is loose. If you don’t have a 4x4 you can park at the entrance of the beach in the public parking area, about a 4 minute walk from the bungalow. I do work with a trusted driver Denis who you can hire to pick you up and drop you off at the airport, just let me know and I can help organize this or you can contact him yourself. His WhatsApp is: +506 6144 7604. You can find car, golf cart and bike rental recommendations in the “Directory” section under Rentals.
Whether you visit during our summer months (Dec - May) or the rainy season (peak rain Sept - Nov), Guanacaste always has something fun to offer! As could be expected our high season is during the summer months. There isn’t a cloud in the sky and the ocean looks like a pool. This of course also means that more people, both locals and tourists, frequent the beaches, particularly on international and national holidays. If your vibe is more of a laid back one and prioritize more privacy then the low season months are more suited, particularly Monday - Friday where you can enjoy the beach practically to yourself. June - August are good months for that as they are low season but not full on rainy yet.
September and October are subject to lots of rain. It is hurricane season in the Caribbean and they become lightning storms once they arrive to Guanacaste. As can be expected with storms there is the possibility of bigger waves in the ocean or more bugs at night - nothing big or scary that bites, mainly moths and other small flying similar bugs, consistent with being in the jungle in Central America :) Those same storms also make for epic sunsets and rainbows.
I do provide bottled water. There are 4 ice trays and a freezer big enough for a bag of store bought ice.
There are yoga mats and weights as well as private fitness/yoga instructors available to the bungalow- their info is located in the “What to Do” section under Yoga.
There are also beach and ocean items available for your use during your stay including a paddle board, kayak, boogie boards, ocean noodles, beach chairs, lounge chairs, umbrellas, big beach rugs and coolers.
I do have dogs and cats that live on the property - unless they are welcomed by you they stick around to the pink house. But if you DO welcome then they will be your best friends! Guapo and Firu are the most social and will hang out with you and be your dogs away from home! The cats are a little more shy but have a good sense of detecting cat people. Geckos also love hanging out at the bungalow. They eat mosquitos and small bugs and hang out on the walls and ceiling. Their chirping sound might sound like a rodent or bird but rest assured it’s our pink little geckos!
Have a great time and please don’t hesitate to contact me about anything at all. I’m happy to help make this your best vacation!
